My Model Railroad Empire
History:
My Model Railroad Empire project was formally started in early Nov 2004. The interchange that I was in had a need to create what are called Car Cards. Many were using a MS Excel, Access, Word or Power Point program to create these cards. After printing out the blank cards they would hand write the car or engine information. This practice while OK for some was not a good solution for me. My penmanship is not very good so the concern for me was whether I could read my own writing. Also I had friends in the local club that did not feel comfortable creating files. From that was born My Model Railroad Empire.
After several Alpha and Beta versions I released the program to the world to use as Freeware. I started a Yahoo Group called EIRR (
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EIRR/) to have discussions regarding bugs or suggestions. I received a lot of good feedback on "bugs" and suggestions for enhancements from users in Australia, England, Africa, USA and other parts of the world. I believe the current version 1.7.1 is stable for everyones use. As a side note I have never received a concern of incompatibility or system failure. Most of the issues were related to the loading of reports. Those issues have been resolved.
05/25/2007 Release Note:
My Model Railroad Empire has been loaded and tested on Vista Home Premium and works as designed with the following issues.
1. The Framework 1.1 must be install on the PC. You will need to go to the following link to download the file. You will need administrator rights to install.
You may also need this download if you get an data error.
2. The help program will not work as the chm file does not appear to be supported. I will be searching another method in the future.

My Model Railroad Empire is a self-contained database inventory, Car Card Generator and chalkboard style CTC panel program. The Inventory Reports can be used to keep track of your model railroad inventory. Take the print out with you to hobby shops or shows and know exactly what you already own so you do not purchase duplicate equipment. It is also a good resource to give to your insurance company for proper valuation and loss coverage of your Empire.

Here is the best part. My Model Railroad Empire is FREE. Yes free. I know it sounds to good to be but it is true - Free. The reason it is free is because it is my way of returning back to the model railroad community what I have received in help and advise from so many people. I also had a desire to learn the VB.Net programming language and thought I would combine both concepts into this endeaveour.
